Our Purpose
The purposes of the Association shall be to recognize, educate, promote, and generate resiliency and trauma-informed counseling practices within the State of Ohio, through the recognition of both individual and social contexts of person(s) and communities served and professionals providing counseling, supervision, or education in these contexts, to:

Promote greater awareness and understanding of trauma and its widespread impact on individuals and communities.

Promote greater awareness and understanding of the widespread impact of trauma in the context of multicultural and diversity factors such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual and/or affectional orientation, age, ability/disability, spiritual or religious belief system, or indigenous, cultural, and ethnic heritage.

Improve standards and delivery of counseling, supervision, and educational services in resiliency and trauma-informed counseling practices.

Promote equality of trauma-informed counseling to individuals/communities served through increasing cultural humility and multicultural competency.

Identify conditions which create barriers to implementing resiliency and trauma-informed counseling practices.

Develop, disseminate, implement, and foster interest in counseling-related charitable, scientific, and educational programs to further resiliency and trauma-informed counseling practices.

Promote resiliency strategies for counselors who provide trauma-informed counseling to improve counselor wellness, reduce potential impairment and/or deleterious effects of vicarious trauma and burnout, and improve overall counselor sustainability within the profession.

Engage in service opportunities that promote the sustainability of the Association and its members through resiliency and trauma-informed counseling practices.
